Installation art by GPAC
Installation art is a piece that you can immerse yourself into. It is a piece that has a direct point. The materials used for installation art are unique to the art itself. It is a collage of effects or items that tie in together to make the piece real. W make installation art to tell a story of meaning. The Cristo and Jeanne-Claude The Gates. 1979-2005 installation in Central Park, New York City, 2005 struck me the most. It is a whole walk through piece that was there for a while and then gone. The only trace of it is pictures and sketches. Also a memory to those who saw it.
I like an installation that I can tell a story with. I want to use items that were close to my father in his life. For my installation I will place them together on a table in my basement where I have kept them hidden and now bring out for the memory of him. An accordian, a bowling ball, a glass cutter, and his painting that he made from acrylic paints.
My dad played the accordian in his country of Latvia and then here in Canada where I grew up. He owned a glass company and used this type of glass cutter to cut many pieces for installation. He painted as a hobby and when he visited different places, he would capture them by memory with acrylic paints. He was also an avid bowler for most of his life too.
Thank you
George
